Two poachers killed in Orang National Park in Assam

Assam forest department guards killed two poachers in Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park on Tuesday.The guards also recovered a .303 rifle, 10 bullets and an axe.

“The incident took place around 1 a.m. today (Tuesday). The forest guards heard a gunshot and launched an operation immediately. The poachers fired at the guards when asked to surrender. Two poachers were killed in the ensuing gunfight,” Assam`s Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Bikash Brahma said.

Assam forest minister Pramila Rani Brahma said that, the forest guards are engaged in the anti-poaching measures to protect wild animals in the state.
