Guwahati, Nov. 26 – Revolutionary icon, former Cuban President and leader of the Communist revolution, Fidel Castro has died at the aged of 90.
President Raul Castro announced on national television that Castro breathed his last at 10.29 pm last evening, 25 November 2016 .
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended condolences to the Cuban government and people of the country on the demise of Fidel Castro.
He said, India stands in support with the Cuban Government and people in this tragic hour.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi has also condoled the passing away of Fidel Castro.
She said, his death as a loss not limited to Cuba or a particular ideology, Mrs. Gandhi also said that Mr. Castro led the oppressed and the striving from the front and stood up to every attempt at stifling the voice of freedom. And his contribution to the Non Aligned Movement and his unflinching support for India’s cause on various for a will remain etched in the minds of Indian People.
Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz, Commonly known as Fidel Castro, was a Cuban politician and revolutionary who governed the Republic of Cuba as Prime Minister from 1959 to 1976 and then as President from 1976 to 2008.
